Mobile Blogging!

Wahooos! Now when we are on the move Mommy can blog from that clicky thing always in her hands!

Today we went to the dog park and I had fun tills the last 15 minutes. I was playing with mommies coworker's dog and alls a sudden the BIG MEANIE comes in! Dis dog is so meanies to me and only me! I dunno what's I do. I see that BIG MEANIES coming and I tuck my tail so far under me and lay down bellies up even when dat dog is half a ball field away cuz I just know that BIG MEANIE is comin for me!!

Mommy has had multiple conversations with BIG MEANIE's mom to no avail. She is dat dog owner who's dog does no wrong! Dat BIG MEANIE has even punctured my kneck once and mom (stupidly) just went to the vet and forgot to do all the things dem coppers need! Mommy tries to let us leave when she sees BIG MEANIES car but we were at da other end of the park!

I am not usually a scared submissive doggy! I iz a well adjusted doggy dat plays with everyone and occasionally dominance humps (hehe I love dis!), but this is far and few between.

Mommy wants to know if YOU or YOUR parents have dealt with BIG MEANIES and their parents? How did your parents handle their parents? Were there parents receptive or in denial?

Ok discuss:

  1. That is terrible!! I have not had such a problem really. But I have seen some friends of mine parents keep a can of CORRECT air and when a mean dog starts trouble they squirt the air in their direction and say NO. It actually works really well. Mot all mean dogs parents appreciate that, but they are told that they are protecting their dogs and it is far more effective and safe than other things they could do.

  2. We have never had to play around BIG MEANIES ever...everyone loves us, except SAM and he is my brother so he is kinda expected to be a big meanie to us sometimes....I feel bad for you and your mom...maybe his owner doesn't know what to do about his behavior...maybe if you sprayed bitter apple spray all over you he would leave you alone when you played at the park...or you could just call the sheriff to come get him...

    1. Mason's Mom: The owner of the big meanie denies her dog does anything and my dog provokes it. Are you kidding me? His tail cant be anymore glued to his tummy and hes belly can't reach the sky any higher! The guy is absolutely terrified of your dog. I will be filming it next time (most likely tonight) when we go and turning it over to police. They never come out to the DP because they believe the Shelter should deal with it but the shelter is useless and tells us to call police!

  4. Ugh, I hate the meanies! I'll let Mom tell you how we deal/dealt with them.

Dachshund Mommy: Before we moved I took Nola to the dog park maybe twice a month. Always on the small dog side; it's not worth the risk to her back to take her to the big dog side. There were always a few snippy little things, but I'd always call Nola to me and if that didn't work to politely tell their owners that "hey, please calm your dog down. If they were doing that to a less tolerant dog they might get hurt". That almost always worked.
I stopped taking her to the park completely when a guy kept taking his pit bull (not breed hate or anything, blah blah) into the small dog side and refused to control it. My friend's dog was injured because of it.

    1. Mason's Mom: Yeah we don't have separate sides (not that Mason would play with a little dog anyway)but this park is about a football field long maybe more and it is hard to run over to your dog in time if they are far away. Mason usually sticks close but will run around with other dogs if they are all over having fun! It is just this ONE husky (no breed hate either). She sees him and just RUNS for him and half the time he isn't even facing her when she attacks him!

  5. That really sucks about the big meanie... We wish we could help, but we haven't had to deal with anything like this before :( Is there a different dog park in your area that you could go to instead?

Good Luck and we hope you find a good solution to your big meanie problem!!

  6. Hi, Well you are certainly much bigger than Hunter but we have had a couple of times when this happened-once I took him out of the dog park because sometimes big dogs forget that little dogs get hurt easier. Also my friends Aussie runs into him(a 9 lb Bichon)and the Aussie weighs about 70 lbs. Hunter will get rolled etc and now is somewhat scared to play with her so I skip the dog park with them too. I like dog parks that have separate areas.
Sorry for the big old meanie-your mom will figure out how to deal with it-maybe another dog park.
    Happy Day. Noreen & Hunter

  7. I have two BIG MEANIES in my neighborhood, two Belgian Shepherd bitches, one bit me in my cheek just for fun, without a reason. But I call her bad names if I pass by their backyard.

I've nominated you for an Award...

  9. Oh no! I can't believe that! I'm so sorry that people think that they can bring their un-socialized doggies to dog parks! You see, I am kinda un-solcialized because I was sick as a pup, and had to be kept away from other doggies, so I'm not so good all the time. I'm no 'meanie' but, I bark and bark sometimes, so Ma doesn't let me go to doggie parks, because she doesn't want me scaring other doggies. I do say hello to other doggies, but Ma thinks doggie parks would just be 'too much' for me, and I might misbehave. I wish the Mommie of the Big Meanie was as aware. Peeps can be sooo dense sometimes!! I wish I had some sage advise on what to say to this Mom, but it sounds like you've already done what I would have done. I'm sad for you that you might not be able to enjoy your doggie park as you should. I hope someone here can have a good solution for you. I'll be keepin' my paws crossed that the Big Meanie just goes away!

    Kisses,

    Ruby
