How Did My Ancestors Turn Into Me?

Mom was recently asked to read over an article from The Uncommon Dog.

So we did!

It is a very short article about wolves and a theory on how they were domesticated. Mom says I should use the word 'theory' because even though the article says 'Many Scientists believe' doesn't mean it is correct. I bet a lot of us believe bones grow in the fridge and there is a plentiful supply in there...but this isn't always the case is it?

They have provided an 'infographic' for us to use!

Though the article is nicely made and looks cute mom wonders what those smarticle scientist people were thinking?

Wolves are pack animals and the only wolves allowed to breed are the alpha female and the alpha male. So they are saying that the alpha female was killed orphaning her young? Mom is of the understanding that most pups are then cared for by other pack members. In captivity they may be killed.  Or were the wolves living in the band of humans tame enough already that whoever just bred with whoever?

Mom would like to know the answers to these questions, but we will never know will we? We would have to have The Doctor come fur one of us and we would have to travel back in his Tardus (4 paws up if you know who mom's nerdy reference is!)

What do my furends think?

  1. Mum is right only a trip back in time would answer that. Funny last night we watched a series on that very topic. Have a fabulous Friday.

  4. Anything is possible. When wolf puppies are bad mom grabs them and stares directly in their eyes. Mom tried it with my Lily, she calmed down and became submissive

  5. Wow! I had black and brown furs. Guess I came from furry wolves, who liked to play with tennis balls and nap a lot. :)

  6. Bones don't grow in the fridge?? Now I am confused and I don't really get the whole wolf thing. Sometimes I feel like a wolf, but then I get a belly rub and forget about it.
